Osamu Toshimitsu joined IPU New Zealand in 2025 as a lecturer in Japanese language education, bringing a decade of experience teaching Japanese at university level across China and Japan. During his tenure in Japan, he served in a senior capacity, mentoring junior faculty and overseeing departmental operations. His recent responsibilities at IPU New Zealand include foundational Japanese language education, providing personalised support to help students reach their specific proficiency goals through engaging and diverse teaching methods, and contributing to the successful administration of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).


Osamu's areas of expertise and research interest lie in the integrated education of Japanese language and culture, and in the planning and implementation of Japanese cultural events involving the local community. He has a proven track record of designing and executing diverse cultural events, reflecting his deep commitment to fostering meaningful student engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
