Oliver Banks joined IPU New Zealand as an English as a Second Language (ESL) lecturer in March 2025, having graduated with Distinction from IPU New Zealand's Bachelor of Contemporary International Studies with a TESOL Major in the same year. His responsibilities at IPU New Zealand include helping students develop grammatical, sociolinguistic, and communicative competence in English, teaching core language skills across speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and collaborating with fellow teachers to ensure holistic language development.
Oliver has a keen interest in foreign languages, intercultural communication, and ESL teaching, with personal language pursuits in Korean and Japanese. He was recognised with the IPU New Zealand Undergraduate Student Research Award in December 2025, and received 21 Certificates of Academic Excellence during his undergraduate studies, reflecting his strong commitment to academic excellence throughout his time at IPU New Zealand.
