Diyana Kamarudin joined IPU New Zealand bringing over 16 years of teaching experience across diverse international contexts, having previously taught at Lincoln University in New Zealand, Western Michigan University in the United States, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, and City University Malaysia. Her recent responsibilities at IPU New Zealand include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in research methods, entrepreneurship, communication, and marketing, supervising postgraduate research students, organising research colloquia for staff and students, and supporting the development of research clusters within the institution. She has also been invited to deliver talks on research methodology and education in Turkey, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Dr Diyana specialises in research methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative research design and analysis, as well as communication and marketing. Her research interest centres on sustainability in communication and marketing, entrepreneurship, and innovative approaches to education and teaching methods.
She is a prolific researcher with publications spanning sustainable marketing, education technology, supply chain integrity, and social sciences, appearing in journals including the Journal of Islamic Marketing, Journal of Science and Technology Policy Management, and Frontiers in Education, among others. Dr Diyana has published four books, including two on research methodology: Methodology (Technology) and Survey Research. She also authored an entrepreneurship book titled Kejayaan dalam Keusahawanan (Success in Entrepreneurship). In addition, she has contributed chapters to Springer publications, including a chapter on Automatic Vehicle Location systems in Advances in Intelligent Manufacturing and Mechatronics (2023), and a forthcoming chapter on digital tools and technology-supported active learning in Teacher Training with Active Learning Theory, Implementation, and International Experiences (Springer, 2026). She is currently finalising another book, Keusahawanan Dalam Pendidikan Khas (Entrepreneurship for Special Education), which is scheduled for publication in 2026.
Her research achievements have been recognised with a Gold Medal at the 32nd International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition Malaysia (ITEX) 2021, multiple Gold Medals at the Malaysia Technology Expo 2021, the Euro-Business Haller Special Award, the National STEM Association Outstanding Innovation Award, and an Outstanding Paper Award at the 23rd APIEMS Conference 2023.
