Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Mappi Regency of South Papua Province to bring seven Papuan students to study at IPU New Zealand
One of our academic staff members, Marveys Ayomi, has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on behalf of IPU New Zealand, with the Mappi Regency of South Papua Province, to bring seven Papuan students to study at IPU New Zealand, here in Palmerston North.
This is a new project established at the Regional Government level, and is in addition to the existing agreement we have with the Government of Papua Province, the success of which led to the signing of this MoU.
As many Papuan students have already graduated from IPU New Zealand and gone on to succeed in their chosen careers, this development provides an excellent opportunity for the Regional Government, the people of Papua, and IPU New Zealand.
Examples of this success include two female Papuans, Vanda Korisano and Astin Itaar, who now fly for Indonesian national airlines, Garuda Indonesia and Citilink Indonesia respectively, just five years after graduating from IPU New Zealand.
IPU New Zealand is very grateful for the opportunity to be able to provide such educational opportunities for the selected students, and we look forwards to their arrival in New Zealand.
We are also very grateful for all the support we have received from the Mappi Regency officials involved.
