IPU International Spring Festival

The IPU New Zealand annual International Spring Festival went off with a bang last weekend.  Culture, cherry blossoms, and community mixed for the day at IPU New Zealand’s campus.  While the recreation centre buzzed to vibrant cultural dance, and music, the concourse echoed to the sound of the Kodama drum team.

Despite a rain shower at lunchtime, there was no dampening the visitors’ spirits and it wasn’t long before the sun came back to bathe the blossoms in sunlight.   Over in the dining hall the delicious smell of Japanese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese and other ethnic foods wafted across campus courtesy of the food trucks and food stalls.

On the main driveway there was no shortage of students and public dressed up in traditional costume which shows the true diversity of the festival.  We already look forward to next year, when the campus hosts another clash of culture.
