IPU New Zealand Provides a Wonderful Environment to Entertain and Educate our Tamariki

IPU New Zealand not only provides the perfect environment for our students to excel, but it also offers an opportunity for people from across the Pacific, and further afield, who now call Manawatū home, the chance to teach their whānau about their culture and language.

A perfect example of this was when staff and students from our Japanese Studies department hosted a group of parents and tamariki from JAPN (Japanese Association of Palmerston North), which is for families of Japanese heritage living in the Manawatū, and those who are interested in Japan and its culture.

This week’s event involved the group making cards with a Japanese New Year theme, and crafting origami of the Chinese Zodiac (next year's Chinese Zodiac sign is the rabbit).

Students from the IPU New Zealand Japanese Language Club also entertained the group of some fifteen children by reading them a story about the Chinese Zodiac, and a great time was had by everyone involved.
