Vietnamese Principals and Government Officials Visit

From 14/03/2017 to 24/03/2017, IPU New Zealand hosted a visit by officials of the Department of Education & Training (DOET), Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

Mr Pham Ngoc Thanh, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City DOET, also the group’s leader during the visit, was officially welcomed by Dr Gill Claridge and Mr Brendon Chapple, Deans of the Faculty of International Studies and the other members of the faculty and senior management of IPU New Zealand.

Mr Thanh commented, “This is an excellent opportunity for staff members of Ho Chi Minh city DOET to widen their knowledge and to learn about the education system in New Zealand.”

The delegation visited IPU New Zealand campus facilities, attended the annual Academic Excellence Awards ceremony for our top students and talking with senior staff about the benefits of possible future linkages. The group was also welcomed by four high schools in the area including Palmerston North Boys High, Girls High, Freyberg and Awatapu College in the following days.

The delegation was impressed by the modern facilities and quality education programme that IPU New Zealand and high schools in Palmerston North city provide.

To many members of the department, this was their first visit to the country but they expressed their belief that New Zealand is one of the best places in the world to consider for study abroad.

Principals and officials from Ho Chi Minh City DOET also enjoyed New Zealand beautiful sceneries, from Te Apiti Wind farm, Napier City to Te Mata Peak, lake Taupo and Rotorua. The group departed for Vietnam on the 24/03/2017.
